Basit\u00e7e s\u00f6ylemek gerekirse sismograf, depremleri ve k\u00fc\u00e7\u00fck depremleri \u00f6l\u00e7mek i\u00e7in kullan\u0131lan bir ara\u00e7t\u0131r.<\/p>\n<p> Sismograf, \u0130sko\u00e7 fizik\u00e7i James David Forbes taraf\u0131ndan 1842&#8217;de icat edildi. Bir deprem meydana geldi\u011finde, hareketi birka\u00e7 dakika daha uzun s\u00fcren as\u0131l\u0131 k\u00fctle d\u0131\u015f\u0131nda sismograf\u0131n tamam\u0131 sallan\u0131r ve bu nedenle ona eklenen i\u015faretleyici, titre\u015fimleri sismograma kaydedebilir.<\/p>\n<p> Atalet ilkesi, her cismin harekete veya h\u0131z de\u011fi\u015fimine kar\u015f\u0131 diren\u00e7 g\u00f6sterdi\u011fini s\u00f6yl\u00fcyor. C. \u00c7in imparatorlu\u011funda sismoskop ad\u0131 verilen bir alet kullan\u0131l\u0131yordu. Bu alet, \u00fczerinde bronz bir top bulunan sekiz ejderha kafas\u0131n\u0131n bulundu\u011fu b\u00fcy\u00fck bir kaptan olu\u015fuyordu. Teorik olarak bir deprem tespit edilebiliyor ve y\u00f6n\u00fc biliniyordu ancak do\u011frulu\u011fu d\u00fc\u015f\u00fckt\u00fc.<\/p>\n<p> 18. ve 19. y\u00fczy\u0131llar aras\u0131nda ilk sismograflar yap\u0131lmaya ba\u015fland\u0131. \u0130lk ba\u015fta hepsi sismik hareketleri kaydeden bir sarkac\u0131n hareketine dayan\u0131yordu. Ancak tasarlanan cihazlar\u0131n hassasiyeti yine de geli\u015ftirilebilir.<\/p>\n<p> 1842 y\u0131l\u0131na kadar James David Forbes (1809-1868), bir \u00f6nceki b\u00f6l\u00fcmde anlat\u0131lan mekanizmaya g\u00f6re \u00e7al\u0131\u015fan sismograf\u0131 icat etti.
