Este nome come\u00e7ou a ser usado para medir for\u00e7as no in\u00edcio do s\u00e9culo XX, mas foi somente em 1948 que foi oficialmente designado na Confer\u00eancia Geral de Pesos e Medidas (CGPM).<\/p>\n<p> Em particular, um newton \u00e9 a for\u00e7a necess\u00e1ria para mover um corpo de massa 1 kg com uma acelera\u00e7\u00e3o de 1 m\/s <sup>2<\/sup> . E para segurar uma garrafa grande de um litro de \u00e1gua voc\u00ea precisa de uma for\u00e7a de 9,81 N.
